The Historic Billings Depot, impeccably restored to its 1909 grandeur, serves as the centerpiece of Montana Avenue and a bustling events center. The Passenger Station and Baggage Room provide a venue for company parties, business meetings and seminars, small trade shows, memorable receptions, holiday celebrations, concerts, rehearsal dinners, theatre performances, fund-raisers and fashion shows. A small Conference Room is also available.

The Library is the largest public library in Montana and provides access to a broad selection of fiction and non-fiction materials including bestsellers and classical works; videos and audio tapes; musical compact discs and DVD’s, as well as a large selection of magazines and state and regional newspapers. The Peter Yegen, Jr. Yellowstone County Museum is located on the rims above Billings at Billings Logan International Airport. Hours are Monday though Friday 10:30am to 5:00pm and Saturday from 10:30am to 3:00pm. Closed on Sunday. Free admission and parking.
The Museum has a new Lewis and Clark Fur Trading Post Exhibit, a very special gift shop and interpretive exhibits reflecting the diverse cultures of Montana and the Yellowstone River Basin. Changing contemporary exhibits of local and national artists are displayed in the Landmarks Gallery. A fabulous view of Billings and surrounding areas can be seen from the deck. The grounds
of the Museum are home to the old 1031 Stream Engine.
Moss Mansion Historical House Museum

In 1903 P.B. Moss, built an elegant home for his family. Today the Moss Mansion is virtually unchanged. This Historic House Museum features much of the original family furnishings, carpets, custom draperies, and handmade light fixtures all in an eclectic mixture of decorating styles. Designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh - designer of the original Waldorf Astoria, the Plaza Hotel in N.Y. and the Willard Hotel in D.C. - the Moss Mansion is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The beautiful sandstone 1901 building is on the National Register of Historic Places. Our new exhibit, “We’re Making History: Billings’ First 125 Years,” celebrates the 125th anniversary of our city, March 2007 through May 2008. Enjoy the artifacts, photographs, stories and historic film footage from Billings’ past, including interactive children’s activities. Explore western artist J. K. Ralston’s original studio cabin on site. The museum is a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate and is accredited by the American Association of Museums. Attend the free High Noon Lecture Series on the third Thursday of each month, starting in March. |
